Bitter Princess Isabella
03:01
|
|||
Bitter Princess Isabella, how come you never dance for me?
I 'm no ordinary fella and I really need your sympathy
Bitter Princess Isabella, how come you make me feel so blue?
When I spent every morning sleeping, just to stay in bed with you
And I feel I will be fine, if you help me ease my mind, I ll be happy all the time
Bitter Princess Isabella, this is not the time or place
Even though you seem so pretty, you just hide your ugly face
Bitter Princess Isabella, why won't you simply let me free
And if I die before I see you, will you sing the eulogy
And I feel I will be fine, if you help me ease my mind, I ll be happy all the time

Little Man
03:20
|
|||
Look at the little man; How he builds a pedestal
Just to put another little man on it
How he waves his little hand, how he swings his magic wand
To erase the ones he deems unfit
Then he builds a little cage, to lock in his righteous rage
For the ones that are sometimes letting loose
Between freedom and security, happiness, maturity
We already know what he would choose

The Beast
04:43
|
|||
I dream of dreams
; of celestial mothers
drinking coffee
next to you
Their glassy veils
protect you from the weather
they weave your hair
with beads of blue
but I speak the words of my bitter brothers
of being whole
away from you
Their jagged edges
clump together
and form the poison
that I spew
but I don’t remember much anymore;
Just my head between your hands, and that bracelet on your wrist
that night I said I ‘ll be there forevermore
but then I had to leave, just to please the beast
That stands beside me all the time
and is asking for your blood
or my misery
I dream the dreams
of someone other
the people in them
have your eyes
I climb aboard
my swollen head
to catch a glimpse
of what they said
and I speak those words
to countless people
I think they are you
in disguise
but I don’t remember much anymore;
Just my head between your hands, and that bracelet on your wrist
that night I said I ‘ll be there forevermore
but then I had to leave, just to please the beast
That stands beside me all the time
and is asking for your blood
or my misery

Oh Mary
05:19
|
|||
“Are you going to be back home for the holidays?”
The woman in the counter smiles
I said yes - and as we parted ways
Tears were sparkling in her eyes
I imagined she remembered someone
that promised not to go away
and I ‘d feel more bitter than amused
If I knew you ‘d leave by Boxing day
Oh Mary, Oh Mary
your betrayals and your vows
Oh Mary, Oh Mary
the pain she buried, beneath her brows
So Mary, Sweet Mary
You can’t keep me company
Cause Mary, Sweet Mary
I ll only bring you, down with me
No I ll never be back home for the holidays
Now I have nowhere to sleep
You said no and then we parted ways
The price of freedom is too steep
And I spend my days, burning bridges
I ‘ve turned the city into dust
As I ‘m sitting on the ridges
turning rigid from the rust
Oh Mary, Oh Mary
your betrayals and your vows
Oh Mary, Oh Mary
the pain she buried, beneath her brows
So Mary, Sweet Mary
You can’t keep me company
Cause Mary, Sweet Mary
I ll only bring you, down with me

Mother (reprise)
07:07
|
|||
Don't tell my mother
Don't tell my mother
Don't tell my mother What I 've done
God bless you brother
God bless you brother
Don't tell my mother What I 've done
Just tell her that I 'm never coming home
Don't tell nobody
Don't tell nobody
Don't tell nobody where I 'll go
And if somebody
And if somebody
And if somebody wants to know
Just tell them that I 'm never coming home

Unbecoming
03:49
|
|||
As you stepped in the room
I forgot how to breathe
familiar doom and gloom
a kick in the teeth
In that look on your face
I think I see a trace
of your cheap former grace
as you move in for the kill
And I feel like the king of this old story
Sad and castrated in the wastelands
I sleep and dream of my old glory
To be finished by your hands
But I m afraid it will be
so graceless of you
so unbecoming of me
Has it come down to this?
exchanging pleasantries
as if there are mysteries
between us still
So it is down to this
a trade of silences
and I can’t cross the seas
between us anymore
And I feel like the king of this old story
Sad and castrated in the wastelands
I sleep and dream of my old glory
To be finished by your hands
But I m afraid it will be
so graceless of you
so unbecoming of me
